Cue Card: A simple, private teleprompter

THE IDEA

Why I built it

I wanted a simple teleprompter for recording videos: paste a script, find a comfortable pace, and read it without memorizing every word.

Project goals

• Keep the whole app in one HTML file that can be downloaded and used offline
• Keep the script on the device instead of sending it to a server
• Make scroll speed, text size, and start delay quick to adjust

Challenges

• Keeping the current line easy to follow while the text scrolls
• Fitting mirrored text, fullscreen, and keyboard shortcuts into one small page

What came out of it

• A live teleprompter at cue-card.site, plus a downloadable offline copy
